New Music: Chrishan & Kyle Christopher

On December 6th be sure to purchase Chrishan and Kyle Christopher's Christmas album, 'Holiday Love' on iTunes! These guys are amazing; they are artists, writers and producers. The chemistry I have with these guys has led to some amazing records (I co-wrote 'Around the World' and 'Holiday Love' on the album). You can look forward to hearing more of our collaborations - but that's a different post ;)

Remember, December 6th, iTunes, Holiday Love, BUY IT!!!

WORKIN'!

Hey! This is a short post to say hi and we hope everyone's been doing well. We have been more than blessed to say the least. The past couple weeks have been crazy with sessions booked back to back, but this is exactly what we wanted and clearly only the beginning. The team has been in the studio with writers Damario ( @Damario_lashine on Twitter) and Carlos ( @onlymusic11 on Twitter). We've knocked out quite a few songs and have way more to go. Soaky has also knocked out some bangers with dynamic duo Crishan and Kyle, and producer Coop who boasts an urban edge and an R&B "swag" that is sure to have the ladies swooning and the club going crazy. More records + more studio time = stronger catalog + several placements. :) So once again thank you for tuning in to the 80'S'ix channel, and remember DON'T GIVE UP no matter who may doubt you. Perseverance and faith leads to success and success is the greatest revenge.

Stay blessed

How could this happen in 2011? The fact that racism still exists is sad but true. If you haven't already seen the video, check it out here. Please feel free to comment. God bless.

Do YOU

It's true that you have to do what makes you happy. Dare to take risks. Many times, people go through life seeking the approval of others. They don't do certain things, whether it be following a dream or simply choosing a different career path because friends or family won't approve. It gets old though; trying to conform to what another deems appropriate for you. WHY? Rock your clothes the way YOU want to rock them. Wear your hair the way YOU want to wear it. If someone doesn't like it...so what? You only live once so make the most of it. Express yourself the way you want to whether it be in the form of song, dress, or in life itself. Just remember to put God first. If it's not His will, things will not go "according to plan". March to the beat of your own drum and you'll see that a weight is lifted from your shoulders. Love you guys.

We're Heeeeeere!

Welcome back and thanks for viewing our blog. This entry is going to be simple and straight-to-the-point. Where are some good places to shop? 80'S'ix loves music but we also LOVE fashion. We've been to the Beverly Center and even found a few nice boutiques in the Hollywood area that have both modern and vintage clothing, but we'd like to know where else we can go! Hit us up here, on Facebook, or on Twitter and let us know please. Feel free to advise us of some good restaurants as well. We also live to eat *shrugs*. It's not a game. :) Stay blessed, have a good weekend, and as always, thanks for your support.

Where Are the Hot Spots in LA?

We've been in LA for about 2 months now and so far we love the vibe and the networking. There's so much opportunity out here. We'd like to know about some more fun places to go to though, and about the events that go on weekly. Let us know! All work and no play makes us BORED lol. We have gone to Entourage which is a nice spot in Hollywood. It's nice and "posh" without the "bourgeois" attitude. Of course there's House of Blues which everyone knows is cool; but please tell us where else we can go, what's going on, and if you're going to be there! That's all folks. ;)

-Thanks and TTYL

What's Your Passion?

So I looked up the word passion and it is defined as 1) a powerful emotion; one that is strong and barely controllable and 2) a state or outburst of such emotion. It made me wonder if everyone really has a passion for something? Or are there people who live without any excitement, and nothing that drives them or motivates them to reach that climax? Are you doing what you truly love? If anyone ever has to ask you what you're passionate about, then it's time to reevaluate your purpose and your goals. I think that when you put "you" or yourself into what you love, people cannot help but to see that you have a strong desire for what you do. If you're not satisfied with where you're at, find that "something" that makes you happy, that takes you to another place, and causes that feeling of euphoria. Music is our passion. What's yours?

Signing off until next time...

Hello World (Again)!

We've been a little M.I.A. people. Before you hit us with the WTHs and WTFs, just know that we've been EXTREMELY busy lol. Those of you who follow us on twitter obviously know the deal, for those who don't just know that the moving process is not a game!

As for LA, I can't express how much I love this place - even though I just spent an entire day in the DMV. We've worked with more awesome people so you guys can look forward to some new content being uploaded in the coming weeks. Sooo, stay tuned; 80'S'ix just wanted to touch base with the world.

As always, we thank you for your support! Now if only we could get the same support from AT&T so we can have our Internet installed already - but I'll leave that for another post.

Caio!

We're in LA Trick!

What's up? :) It's been a minute but we're back and finally in L.A. We've been settling in, working, and of course writing. Thank you for tuning in. Los Angeles has some of the best Asian cuisine, we must say. So far, we're loving it. It does get a bit chilly here as the we're used to the Florida weather; but we'll be fine. We can still wear boots here (yesssss) and with a few scarves and sweaters, we'll be okay. We'll keep you posted as far as the sessions and networking go. The next few weeks we'll be working and moving non-stop for sure and THAT is a wonderful thing. Thanks again and stay tuned for more from Team 80'S'ix. Holla!

May? Already?

Can't believe it's May already; getting ready for the big move to Los Angeles, California (yes, we had to say the whole name...lol) ! We've been through a lot, we've had our ups and downs, but team 80'S'ix is going to make it. We just want to shout out the many producers/individuals we've worked with who've shown us support along the way. It gets hectic at times, and sometimes we may not hear from people in a while. Sometimes you don't hear from us; but we appreciate those who've helped us grow and truly believe in our mission, and those who do not (shrugs). Quick shout out to Gorilla Tek, the Beatbanggahz, Songvibe, the Androidz, Ced, Chrysbanger, La Lah, the Inkredibles, Cool and Dre, Darkchild, Smashzoo, Ill Factor, Glenn Morrison, Rick R., Michelle and Charlotte Delamor, Glass John, Shawn Kang, Tosha Polk, Midas, Corey Stanford, The Monarch...if we've forgotten anyone, our sincerest apologies. Have a good day and stay blessed.

Osama Bin Laden: Is It Over?

Today's post is more serious than usual; it's just something to think about. While we celebrate the fact that Osama Bin Laden is dead, let's pray for world peace. Several feel as though a burden has been lifted off their shoulders for more than one reason. Not only have we lost soldiers at war, but 9/11 is an event that we will never and could never forget. Americans were killed, and their loved ones were left with horrible memories of that day.
It's important to realize, however, that this is just the beginning. We must remember who it is we are and have been dealing with. These are people that live to die. With all that's been going on, from crime, to killings, to suicides...we've got to gain a closer relationship with God. There is no doubt that although Osama is dead, there are people plotting right now to wipe out the U.S.
Earthquakes, tornadoes, child abuse, murder...all these things show that we've got to be ready. Please take the time to pray for those who are no longer with us, for the family members who now live with an incredible void, and for our nation on a whole. God bless you all.

More Music!!!!

If you haven't heard already, Soaky Siren has new music for you to listen to! 'Like I'm Loved', the new single that hits hard and has a pop edge, has been getting great reviews thanks to all of you. This week, the 'Racks' remix was also added. Please continue to stay tuned. Drop by any time to leave comments, check out the page, rate, and subscribe. We're gonna' have more music for you to listen to as the weeks go by.
On another note, have any of you purchased the Adele album, 'Adele 21'? The girl's voice is crazy! She's so talented and the lyrics are amazing; incredible songwriters and producers worked on her project as well.
That's about it for now...as this is being written, 80'S'ix is adding finishing touches to a song that we just wrote over the weekend. You'll hear it soon enough. Later. :)

Random Blogging: Charlie Sheen is Winning!!!

Is it over for the highest paid actor on television? Mmmmm...doesn't seem to be the case at all. The infamous Sheen, who's earned $1.8 million per episode for Two and a Half Men, was recently fired from CBS for "speaking out against the network" and for "a pattern of destructive behavior". However, it has only caused more people to follow him on Twitter, tune in to his station, look him up on YouTube, and even go as far as purchasing his hot dog...complete with pickles, onions...tiger blood and all. Lol! Business has been booming ever since Sheen tweeted the pic of the hot dog! Sooooo, the actor, who has allegedly been involved with drugs, domestic violence, escapades with porn stars, etc. does appear to be winning; as another production is said to be in the works. Go figure...AND, what may come as a surprise to many, his results were negative?! I don't know. All we can do is watch as the saga unfolds. Thanks for tuning in, and let us know your thoughts! Have a wonderful day and God bless. ;)

Here Come The Underdogs!

Man!!! 2011 just started and moves are already being made! We've kicked the year off working with some of our faves and we've teamed up with some new producers as well. As for our progress, it's still all politics but we've gone from having our records heard to having them cut. So we're sending up a lot of prayers to make the final cut. Again S/O to everyone rooting for us and against us!

We've come so far and we still have a long way to go....but I'm excited! After all I love road trips and I love music. So if you put the two together, you'll see that I'm in it for the long haul. I'm quickly learning that the people in this game need to be taken with a grain of salt. Not only are we competing with other writers, but we are also competing with hidden agendas and egos. It sounds like a lot, but once you have the talent, the courage and the faith to go forward it's nothing.

BTW we are going to be adding some new music - that we can actually release lol - to the blog soon so stay tuned!

The Game

Ok...this is random, but have you guys watched the first two episodes of The Game? What do you think? Some say there was just a little too much drama in the first episode so they now wonder what's going to blow us out the water when it comes to the upcoming episodes. Melanie was dead wrong. I understand why she did it...I do. However, she went about the whole thing the WRONG way. Both she and Derwin should have had a test done when Janee' first said she was having the baby. Melanie of course would still be uneasy about the whole situation, but at least she would have know from the beginning, for sure. Now on to Jason...WHAT a character. He's such a jackass, but so hilarious. Anyhow, let us know your thoughts; and let us know any other topics you'd like to discuss. Thanks again for tuning in to Team 80'S'ix. God bless.

And Another One!

Deeper Than Music *Ross Voice*

Everyday is an uphill battle but for one reason or the other, trying to pave your own path in this industry makes that hill seem like a 90° angle. I guess this makes anyone with the same ambitions a thrill-seeker; constantly in pursuit of an adrenaline rush. While I may not have any interest in leaping out of a plane or conquering some of the world's tallest monoliths, I'm pretty sure the euphoria is the same for me when I'm in the studio with the speakers on blast or when I get an email from a producer that is ecstatic about a record. Granted, this might seem perfectly normal - after all, I'm doing what I love so what's the big deal? Moreover, the rock climbers and sky divers mingle with death for the sake of a thrill - crazy.

Well here's the thing, for each time I've ever been disappointed about a record not sticking or being outright rejected, in some sick and twisted way I've grown even more determined and excited to move forward. That's not to say I'm a sucker for rejection and or that I embrace the nasty politics that are only an interim threat. Rather, I'm more of a hopeless romantic; no matter how many broken hearts I suffer from this business, every time I move up the through the ranks it's like nothing ever happened - that call I got about a record getting cut came right along and kissed it all better.

Then, there's the idea of abandoning the 'safe' route. You know, go to college, land a good job, climb the corporate ladder and maybe even start a family. Umm, negative. Now I'm all for education and I'm stoked about walking down the aisle this summer (for my mba ;)) but throughout my studies and job experiences there has always been one prevailing inequality: $≤ happiness. Do I think of landing a prestigious position at Fortune 500 company? Of course I do. Please believe that I will be miserable until it's time to knock off and go to the stu! But in the end, there would be a huge void in my life and quite frankly, I would be doing myself a huge disservice by opting out of my dreams in favor of a 'safe' paper route.

Most people have ambitions of grandeur when it comes to being in the music industry. Everyone wants to be rich and famous. I won't sit here and say that I wouldn't welcome the wealth. But I will say, that the money isn't my motive. What drives me is the fact that I can share my music with the world. I can stir so many positive emotions through a song - I can inspire, I can encourage and most important I can change.

It's that simple.

Now excuse me while I tackle Mount Everest.

~Soaky
